12. Beware of labels
One of the problems with shyness is the label we wear when we describe ourselves as shy. By calling yourself shy, you are programming yourself for the future. Especially with children, it is important not to label them with this label. A quiet or reserved child, if called “shy,” will continue to carry that role at arm’s length when he or she may not be so shy after all.
In the same way, we, as adults, can free ourselves from certain roles that we have been given or have borrowed. In short, it is a matter of regaining a part of our personal power.
